Today, the U.S. says the ceasefire with Iran is holding, despite attacks; newly obtained footage offers a look inside the cruise ship with a rare hantavirus outbreak; and western states are increasingly using AI to spot wildfires. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta) US says ceasefire with Iran is holding despite attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and against the UAE U.S. military leaders said a ceasefire remains in effect a day after Iran was blamed for new attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and against the United Arab Emirates. The key American ally later said it came under Iranian drone and missile attack again on Tuesday. Still, the fragile truce reached nearly a month ago appeared to be holding as U.S. forces pressed ahead with efforts to reopen the strait, a vital waterway for global energy. Read more. Three passengers have died and at least four people are sick in what health officials say is an outbreak of hantavirus. Read more. Rather than push against this rhythm, the town has embraced it. Enter the snails. Fenglin has been putting on snail races as a way to celebrate its focus on a slower, sustainable lifestyle while also bringing in more tourists in the wake of a strong earthquake in 2024 that dampened travel in surrounding areas. Snails are one way to bring tourists back, even if slowly.
