(Jane Towler via AP) U.S. NEWS Questions are still unanswered about Texas’ deadly floods Key questions remain unanswered about the actions that Texas officials took both before and during the catastrophic July Fourth holiday floods as a painstaking search for victims continues along the Guadalupe River nearly a week later. At least 120 people were killed and more than 160 people are believed to still be missing. Read more.

Key questions: How quickly did Texas authorities act? That’s still unknown. Since the flood, Kerr County officials have repeatedly deflected questions about the details and timelines of their response. How did officials prepare? The full extent of Texas officials’ readiness is unclear. When will we find out more details? Officials haven’t given a timeline. They’ve repeatedly said their focus for now is on searching for the missing.

Why this matters: In a video clip of the Tuesday altercation that has spread on social media, Ontario Advanced Surgery Center staff in blue scrubs are heard telling an armed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent wearing a mask and bulletproof vest to let go of the man, who is crying and gasping for breath. “Get your hands off of him. You don’t even have a warrant,” says one staff member, shielding the man from an immigration agent. The Department of Homeland Security said the surgery center staff “assaulted law enforcement” and attempted to obstruct the arrest. The private surgery center didn’t respond to a voicemail seeking comment.

What to know: The Srebrenica killings were the crescendo of Bosnia’s 1992-95 war, which came after the breakup of Yugoslavia unleashed nationalist passions and territorial ambitions that set Bosnian Serbs against the country’s two other main ethnic populations — Croats and Bosniaks. On July 11, 1995, Serbs overran Srebrenica, at the time a U.N.-protected safe area. They separated at least 8,000 Bosniak men and boys from their wives, mothers and sisters and slaughtered them. Bosniak women and children were packed onto buses and expelled. To date, almost 90% of those reported missing since the Srebrenica massacre have been accounted for through their remains exhumed from hundreds of mass graves scattered around the eastern town. So far, the remains of more than 6,700 people have been found in several different mass graves and reburied at the memorial cemetery inaugurated in Srebrenica in 2003 at the relentless insistence of the women.

It came from a hole drilled more than 750 feet deep to study geothermal heating potential for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Only two similar finds have been noted in bore hole samples anywhere in the world, according to museum officials.
